Rosso di Montefalco — a bright, expressive red wine with a complex aroma and rich, balanced flavor with a strong character.The wine is made from a blend of three grape varieties — Sangiovese, Merlot and Sagrantino, which is collected in the estate Montefalco in Turrito. This is a modern and versatile wine that owes its soft and fruity Merlot grapes, while the Sagrantino makes it taste harmonious and beverages. Fermentation in contact with the skins takes place in steel tanks and lasts for 28 days. Exposure is carried out for 12 months in barriques and 6 months in bottle after a light filtration.On the wine label shows a view of the winery Turrito di Montefalco and in the foreground you can see the Falcon which is the symbol of the city. Hunting with falcons was a great passion of Emperor Frederick II of Swabia, and it has become an honorable tradition of the city.Giorgio Lungarotti founded the farm Cantine Giorgio Lungarotti in the early 60-ies of XX century, it is one of the devotees of modern high-quality wine. Currently wine Giorgio Lungarotti continue his 2 daughters, Chiara and Teresa. Their desire for the new while respecting the family traditions was the impetus for the development of winemaking in the region as a whole. Thanks to their efforts, in 1968 the wine area of Torgiano (Torgiano) is one of the first to receive DOC status, and starting with the harvest of 1983, the wines of this region are the DOCG classification. The Lungarotti company also cultivates olive trees and produces excellent balsamic vinegar. A huge role in the company plays the wife of Giorgio Lungarotti Maria Grazia Marchetti, which attaches great importance to the culture of wine consumption and its long history. Thanks to her in 1974 the company opened the Lungarotti wine Museum, which is located in the Palace of the XVII century, and in 2000-m to year was opened the Museum of Olive Oil. In the possession of the family Lungarotti are 260 hectares of vineyards, of which 40 hectares are located in Torgiano and 20 hectares in Montefalco. The cultivation of the vine apply advanced techniques and strict limitation of productivity, as well as respect for the environment.

Tasting Characteristics

The wine has deep ruby red color with purple reflections.
Complex aroma of the wine reveals notes blackberries, Cassis and violets.
The wine has bright, juicy and well-balanced taste with a strong structure, expressive notes of fruit, hints of oak and an elegant, dense tannins.
The wine matches perfectly with roasted red meats, game, venison, meats, sharp cheeses, shrimp tempura and sashimi.
