Interesting facts

The wine Salice, translated from Italian means "willow", made from two indigenous varieties: Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera di Salento. The name Negroamaro comes from the dialectal expression niuru mauru related to the characteristic black color of berries and a high concentration of tannins that give the wine a bitter taste, maybe from the expression mavro nero related only to the black color of the skin. Malvasia Nera — fairly common black grape in many Mediterranean countries, Madeira, South Africa. Malvasia Nera di Salento — rich grape, very aromatic and expressive on the palate. The winery Feudi di San Marzano was founded in 2003 in the area of Puglia, but to cultivate grapes on this earth started several millennia ago. Historical evidence shows that in the VII century BC, grew grapes, and the Greeks called the area Enotria, meaning "land of wine". Interestingly, current owners of the estate Cantine San Marzano and Farnese Vini borrowed the method of growing grapes from Ancient Greece, known as "alberello" — "Bush" vine. This method was mentioned in the works of Senofonte and was more progressive than the "creeping" vine.
