A special series of wines "County Series"from the company demonstrates Ravenswood Zinfandel varietal characteristics of the best wine regions of California, with emphasis on the traditions and heritage of the SONOMA coast. Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel is made from Zinfandel grown in the district of San Joaquin County, near Lodi, known as the "Zinfandel capital of the world", although in the past the wines of Lodi was less prestigious than the counties of NAPA and SONOMA. But in recent years the wines from Lodi are becoming more respected, largely thanks to wineries like Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi, the famous and "Ravenswood". In Lodi's warm days alternate with cool nights, and dry soil make Zinfandel to go back underground to find water and nutrients. Due to this the grape is juicy and concentrated, and the wine is Mature and multi-faceted. The wine Lodi old vine Zinfandel can be drunk now or kept for 5-7 years.

Tasting Characteristics

The wine shows dark purple with inky highlights.
The aroma of the wine reveals notes of black cherry and red currant and the right amount of spices.
Taste of Mature wine, with excellent structure, soft full tannins and balanced acidity, hints of black cherry, currants, clove, cocoa, very long and pleasant finish with hints of tobacco.
Wine blends lasagna, pepper steak, or stew meat.
