Gewurztraminer "Cote de Rouffach" — excellent wine with a very delicate aroma, is made from Gewurztraminer grapes grown in unique vineyard in the appellation "Cote de Rouffach", protected by the high peaks of the Vosges mountains and receiving the exceptional amount of sunlight. Limestone subsoil of the vineyards provide excellent drainage. The average age of the vines is 41 years old. The 2010 crop was harvested by hand on October 4. Vinification includes a slow fermentation and maturation on fine lees. Wine storage capacity is at least 10 years. Rene Mure is one of the oldest producers of Alsace. The history of the company began in 1648. The company's founder and became the first Manager Michelle Muir, who lived near Rouffach and began studying viticulture. A major step in the development of those years was the acquisition of 15 hectares of vineyard, the Clos Saint-Landelin, named after the Irish monk-Martyr Landline (now the company is the exclusive owner of this land). The vineyards are located near the town of Ruffo in the South of Alsace. This is a very favorable area with clay-limestone soil with a high content of stones. The average age of the vines 45 years. Due to the Vosges mountains, which surround it, it is protected from rain and Western winds. That is why there is low rainfall and very Sunny. Vineyard area is just over 22 hectares. today, it includes all the essential grape varieties — Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat, Gewurtraminer and Pinot Noir. Today Domain Rene muret is part of business at Domaine du Clos St.-Landelin, being the main part. The wine produced with our own vineyards, located near the zones Vorbourg, Zinnkoepfle, Schulzengass and Lutzeltal, and from grapes purchased from winegrowers region Ruffo.

Tasting Characteristics

The wine has a rich yellow color with greenish hues.
Delicate aroma of wine reveals notes of rose, amber, pepper.
Rounded in the palate of the wine reveals notes of passion fruit, orange and ginger. The finish is smooth and fresh.
The wine goes well with foie Gras, exotic dishes and cheeses such as Munster or Epws.
