Interesting facts

Alois Lageder, Merlot, 2010 — a delicious Italian wine for the production of which use the finest Merlot grapes grown at an altitude of 230-320 meters above sea level. Age of the vines — group of 15-35 years. The warm climate and sandy soil provide good conditions for ripening berries. The crop is normally harvested in late September. Then the grapes are placed for 14 days in stainless steel tanks for fermentation and maceration. Wine kept in large barrels of Slavonian oak for 8 months.Brand Alois Lageder is a synonym for high quality winemaking and viticulture. The winery, founded in 1823 by Johann Lageder, for the past 5 generations owned by the same family. Johann Lageder built his own wine cellar and began to sell wines of their own production, received recognition for its high quality. In 1855, the wine business was inherited by one of the sons of Johann — Alois, who greatly expanded the capabilities of the company through their entrepreneurial skills and the acquisition of new vineyards. Since 1963, after the death of the head of the family of Alois IV, the company began to manage his widow Christine Ressler and daughter of Vendelgard, which at that time was 21. Vendelgard, with the support of the family and the mother has achieved great results in the management of the family company. Not so easy for a young girl to gain recognition in a business dominated by men. In 1969 vendelgard marries young, successful oenologist Louis won Delman. He took control over the winemaking process and soon became widely known as a master for the production of white wines. Currently the company is managed by Alois Lageder, brother Wendelhag. Alois uses both modern and traditional methods of winemaking. Since 1990, about 50 hectares of vineyards owned by the family, successfully cultivated using biodynamic principles of farming.
