Alois Lageder, Merlot, Alto Adige, 2008 — a delicious Italian Merlot. Fruit and berry flavors mixed with delicate rose and smoke tart, refreshing acidity on the finish and soft tannins form a bright, young character of the wine. This wine is best to drink in the first 4-6 years after graduation. For the production of Alois Lageder, Merlot using selected grapes grown at an altitude of 230-320 meters above sea level. The warm climate and sandy soil provide good conditions for ripening berries. The crop is normally harvested in late September. Then the grapes are placed for 14 days in stainless steel tanks for fermentation and maceration. The wine is aged in large oak barrels for 8 months.Today Alois Lageder brand continues to be synonymous with high quality wines and the cultivation of grapes. The winery, founded in 1823 by Johann Lageder, for the past 5 generations owned by the same family. Johann Lageder built his own wine cellar and began to sell wines of their own production, received recognition for its high quality. In 1855, the wine business was inherited by one of the sons of Johann — Alois, who greatly expanded the capabilities of the company through their entrepreneurial skills and the acquisition of new vineyards. Since 1963, after the death of the head of the family of Alois IV, the company began to manage his widow Christine Ressler and daughter of Vendelgard, which at that time was 21. Vendelgard, with the support of the family and the mother has achieved great results in the management of the family company. Not so easy for a young girl to gain recognition in a business dominated by men. In 1969 vendelgard marries young, successful oenologist Louis won Delman. He took control over the winemaking process and soon became widely known as a master for the production of white wines. Currently the company is managed by Alois Lageder, brother Wendelhag. Alois uses both modern and traditional methods of winemaking. Since 1990, about 50 hectares of vineyards owned by the family, are successfully using the principles of biodynamic agriculture.

The wine has a bright ruby color.
The wine reveals aromas of ripe plum, black cherry, raspberry, fruit cake with sweet notes of rose and tart smoke.
Medium-bodied wine with taste of fruit, good acidity and structure, the wine has a long pleasant finish.
