Interesting facts

Red wine "Hochar Pere et Fils" is sometimes called a "second wine" of Chateau Musar but this is a misconception. The grapes for this wine are grown on a single, ancient vineyard planted over 50 years ago. It is located near the village of AASA in the Bekaa valley at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level and is characterized by the deep gravel soils on a limestone base. The climate is warm, the average annual temperature is about 25 °C. the Harvested grapes are fermented at 29 °C for 15-20 days in cement vats. The wine aged 9 months in French oak barrels. Before bottling the wine is not filtered, so may precipitate, which is recommended to remove, overflow drink for several hours before serving. Wine storage capacity is at least 10 years.Chateau Musar (the word "Musar" is derived from the Arabic "zar m" — "a wonderful place") founded in 1930 in the ancient castle of the XVII century by Gaston Asaram banker and financier by education. New passion for the wine so seized him that turned into a real passion and his life's work. He even decides to send his son Serge in Bordeaux, which received the diploma of oenologist in 1959 as an Intern at the famous Ronald Barton, returned to Lebanon and joined the family business. It should be noted that Chateau Musar is not the oldest winery, does not apply to the leaders in terms of production, however, what made Gaston and Serge Oscar for the reputation of Lebanese wines on the international market, it is difficult to overestimate.
