Wine "Cheval Noire" is made from grapes of Merlot and Cabernet franc, grown in the vineyard, which is located in the Western part of the region of Saint-Emilion, in the area called Rivellon (Rivalon). 35-year-old vines, which are harvested for this wine are grown on sandy soils with patches of clay. The summer of 2008 was not as favorable as it was predicted, but a dry July and warm autumn saved the situation and made it possible to gather the grapes are quite late.
