Interesting facts

Koyle, "Gran Reserva" Cabernet Sauvignon — sweet, beverage, ripe wine with good grip and the full expression of their place of origin — high altitude biodynamic vineyards in Los Lingues, in the Colchagua valley. The grapes are harvested manually at optimum maturity level and sent for sorting to select only the best and healthy clusters. Initial cold maceration for 5 days helps to more fully extract the flavor and taste of the fruit. Fermentation at a temperature of 24-26 ° C lasted 2 weeks, then maceration, only this time at a high temperature, to obtain a round and silky tannins. The wine is aged in French oak barrels lasts 12 months. Before bottling the wine undergoes a light filtration. Storage capacity "Gran Reserva" Cabernet Sauvignon is 5 years. Half an hour before drinking the wine should be decanted.Koyle is a new project Undurraga family, whose roots date back to 1885. In 2006, the brand sold Undurraga and vineyards, but they were not ready to give up wine. Alfonso Undurraga and his sons began to search for new terroir for growing grapes for production of high quality red wines. After traveling and analyzing different valleys and sectors of Chile, they stopped at Los Lingues in the Colchagua valley. Climatic and soil characteristics of the terroir are the key factors in finding the optimal location for the cultivation of vines. Its a beautiful house with a vineyard they called Koyle, in honor of the beautiful, threatened with extinction, indigenous plants. In 2006-2007 Alfonso sons planted 50 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Malbec, Carmenere, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot and Mourvedre, and in 2010, another 30 hectares with Merlot, Cabernet franc, Grenache, Carignano and Sangiovese.
