Interesting facts

A great red wine "Els Escurcons", which perfectly demonstrates the characteristics of the terroir, is produced from two grape varieties: Garnacha Tinta and Syrah. Farm ELS of Excursions, which takes the name of the wine, is located in Gratallops at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level with exposure to the South and South-West. The grapes are harvested by hand in 12 kg capacity, and then at the winery it is carefully sorted. Fermented fruits with the skins in large oak barrels for 26 days. Upon completion of alcoholic fermentation, the resulting mash is pressed and undergoes malolactic fermentation. In June 2008, the wine was bottled.A small winery Mas Martinet is based Jose Luis Perez — the pioneer of Priorat, along with Alvaro Palacios, Rene Barbier and Carles Pastrana, who in 1989 created his first wine. Vineyards with a total area of 7 hectares located around the winery on the banks of the river Siurana, between the village of Gratallops and Falset. Other vineyards 3 hectares scattered around the zone of the Priorat DOQ, including the old vineyards near the town of Porrera, planted with varieties Cariñena and Garnacha, and the new site, located high above the Gratallops. Today, the main face of the winery is Sara Perez, daughter of Jose Luis Perez, who is ranked among the best oenologist in Spain. All the wines are organic farms.

Tasting Characteristics

The wine has bright ruby color.
The wine is full of an explosive aroma with berry notes of BlackBerry and cherry, notes of vanilla, olive and anise.
A wine with a rich, multi-layered palate shows pleasant notes of red and black berries, amazing depth and vibrant colors of the minerals. A clean, pleasant aftertaste has hints of red berries.
The wine goes well with dishes of meats and cheeses.
