Interesting facts

The wine sector "d'arenberg" are often unusual names. The title "The Sticks and Stones" ("Sticks and stones") have been inspired by an old saying: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names never hurt me". Also "Sticks" are called cuttings, which are planted grape growers farm on stony soils ("Stones") of vineyards in McLaren Vale.The blended wine "Styx and stones" consists of an interesting mix of varieties Shiraz, Tempranillo, Tinta Cao and Susa, providing elegance, depth and refinement of taste. Interestingly, the oenologist of the winery Chester Osborn was one of the first planted Tempranillo in McLaren Vale. Later, it became clear that this variety thrives in this terroir and shows excellent results in combination with its classic partner Grenache — the favorite brand of the winery "d'arenberg".In 2009, a sufficient number of rainy winter ensured good soil moisture and set the vines for a healthy crop. Cool summer and mild weather before the harvest provided fully ripe grapes with good natural acidity and balanced tannins. Tasting Characteristics

Wine of intense ruby color.
The aroma of the wine shows a seductive combination of notes of red, black and purple fruits such as plum, blackcurrant and dark cherry truffle. There is another layer of secondary aromas, which complicates the bouquet. It consists of shades of mushroom, autumn leaves and earth.
Taste of wine — a lively and complex, with a solid core of mineral tannins and bright acidity, notes of red licorice, spice and peat, hints of rhubarb and iron ore.

Before use, recommended to decant the wine. The wine goes well with lamb, wild boar and other wild animals, as well as hearty meat dishes.
