Dry red wine Colterenzio, Kalterersee Auslese Lago di Caldaro scelto Classico Superiore is produced from the autochthonous grape varieties Schiavo, which are grown in the region of Alto Adige in Northern Italy. The vineyards are at an altitude of 410-440 meters above sea level and grow in soils composed of porphyry and sandy moraine deposits. In the manufacture of wine is carried out first fermentation on the skins, followed by malolactic fermentation. Both processes take place in stainless steel tanks. Wine Matures for 4 months in concrete tanks. Lago di Caldaro is recommended to drink young.The name of the cooperative comes from Colterenzio Colterenzio village near Girlan. Here is one of Europe's oldest vineyards planted by the Romans. The colterenzio cooperative was founded in 1960, when 28 local farmers decided to combine their efforts. Today, the cooperative has grown to over 290 winemakers, which owns 300 hectares of vineyards. As you know, wines from Trentino-Alto Adige prefer even the Archduke Sigismund, who lived in the castle of Firmiano in the XV century, although there are earlier evidences of the practice of winemaking, specific to the times of Ancient Rome. According to manufacturers, such a long tradition imposes certain obligations — in their case it is necessary to be able to take bold decisions.On the labels of Colterenzio wines depicts the silhouette of the XV century castle, built by Archduke Sigismund, who was a great connoisseur of wines and encouraged the development of vineyards in the area. Currently this castle is almost destroyed.

The wine is moderate ruby red color.
The wine captures the rich aroma of ripe red fruits with dominant notes of cherry.
Wine is characterized by soft, rounded palate with velvety tannins and a very refreshing, juicy acidity.
The wine goes well with meats, poultry, fish dishes and white meats, it also serves pizza, pasta, bacon, sausages and soft cheeses.
