Despite the fact that the homeland of Pinot Noir is considered the French region of Burgundy, it is grown all over the world: Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, USA and countries of the New world. However, the most outstanding success achieved by the winemakers from New Zealand, California and Oregon. Winery "Schubert" believes Pinot Noir is the most important grade and this was the reason for choosing the town of Martinborough in the Wairarapa region in New Zealand to buy land for vineyards as the best terroir for Pinot Noir. In 2001, was harvested the first crop, and in early 2003 released the first wine. If the Marions Vineyard are grown, two clones of Pinot Noir — Pommard and Abel, of whom is born "Pinot Noir Marion''s Vineyard", the wine "Pinot Noir Wairarapa" is made from a clone called "Dijon". The wine is very complex with amazing berry and spicy aroma with a touch of smoky notes, while the palate is layered and perfectly balanced fruity character. The season 2003/2004 was quite cool, with high rainfall. But by April, the time of harvest — warm and dry weather. Harvested by hand from April 28 to may 3. After desteblirovaniya, the grapes underwent cold maceration, fermentation in stainless steel vats, and then aged on the skins for 3 weeks. They carefully chose a place for his future wineries in regions such as Oregon, California, Australia, and some parts of Europe, but really they were attracted to the region of Wairarapa in the southern part of New Zealand. After studying about 100 plots of land in New Zealand, the young men picked up two in the Wairarapa, which, in their opinion, was perfect for their favorite Pinot Noir and its clones. Both sites were purchased in 1998. The vines in the vineyards "Schubert" planted in the European style tight enough. A distinctive feature of the production is very limited amounts of grapes and therefore wine at its very high quality. Wine "Schubert" was repeatedly awarded various prizes. Best known wine "Schubert Pinot Noir and Schubert Cabernet Sauvignon", the last of which was twice recognized as the best new Zealand Cabernet. All wines are distinguished Schubert fruity style and balanced.
