Interesting facts

In the XVII century poet Francesco Redi, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is considered the "king of all wines". The wine is made from selected berries and has good aging potential. Harvested by hand in small boxes. After separation from the stalks and soft pressing of the grapes is fermented in small oak barrels and steel that fill only three-quarters, at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C for weeks. Then another 5-8 days maceration lasts. Wine aging in barrels for 18-24 months takes place in barrels of Slovenian and French oak volume 350-2000 liters. Before bottling the wine is, of necessity, passes a light filtration. The wine storage capacity of up to 10 years. This winery has become a family farm, business Egidio continued by his daughter Paula along with her husband Ippolito. Their children, Luke and Nicolo, also working on the farm since 1983. Poderi Boscarelli, located in the historic area of Vino Nobile — Chervonyano. The vineyards is situated on an altitude of 300 meters above sea level in the South-East of Montepulciano. This area is characterized by a special microclimate, ideal for growing quality grapes. Land — alluvial, stony and sandy — create good drainage and give the grapes a unique style. The most common variety here is Sangiovese, it accounts for 80% of the total vineyard area. The remaining land is occupied by autochthonous varieties — Canaiolo, Colorino, Mammolo and international varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah. The wine Poderi Boscarelli have high ratings and are annually included in the prestigious wine guides "Gambero Rosso" and "Veronelli".

Tasting Characteristics

Wine of intense ruby red color.
The aromatic bouquet of the wine has the classic notes of blueberries and plums that are complemented by hints of violets.
The taste of the wine is fruity, juicy, with supple and silky tannins, very elegant, has nuances of dried herbs, earth, leather and vanilla.
The wine will go perfectly with pasta and risotto with meat sauce, fried, stewed and grilled meat, hard cheeses.
