Interesting facts

Wine "Clos Mogador" is named in honor of the novel "Les Gens de Mogador" ("the People of Mogador"), which was written by the grandmother of Rene Barbier and is dedicated to the life of her family at the foot of Mont Ventoux. Later the novel was filmed and has had great success in France. Blend the wine "Clos Mogador" consists of 4 grape varieties, and the percentage of grades varies from vintage to vintage. The grapes are grown in areas located on very steep terraces forming a gigantic natural amphitheatre above the Siurana river, at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level. Age of the vines Garnacha is more than 80 years. Other varieties were planted much later — in the early 1980-ies.

Tasting Characteristics

The wine is opaque purple.
The wine has a seductive, sensual scent that opens with notes of BlackBerry and cherry. Their juiciness is perfectly interspersed with nuances of truffles, incense, Asian spices, flowers, Cola, smoke and minerals.
Velvety hints of dark berries dominate the palate the wine is abramses flexible tannins that become more acute after aeration. The emerging tone of spices, chocolate, mocha gain strength and remain in the long finish.
Recommended to decant the wine two hours before serving. "Clos Mogador" is best combined with meat of large wild animals, stews, game and Mature cheeses. It can offer to venison, wild boar meat and traditional Spanish jamon.
